The Noorani Qaida is a foundational instructional textbook and method used globally by children and non-native speakers to learn the basics of Arabic reading and correct Quranic recitation (Tajweed). Originally compiled by the 19th-century scholar Shaykh Nūr Muhammad Haqqāni in the Indian Subcontinent, it uses a step-by-step phonetic approach — moving from individual disconnected letters to compound joint letters, short vowels, and complex Quranic diacritics — so that learners can build the muscle memory and pronunciation accuracy required to recite the Holy Quran.
